When you think of cleaning your dryer lint screen typically we say yeah I remove the lint from my filter after every load. What if I told you thats only part of keeping your lint screen clean and free of obstructions to allow maximum air flow.
There is another factor that blocks or restricts air flow thru your lint screen. Chemical residue from dryer sheets or liquid fabric softener. This Chemical adheres to your clothes to soften them as well as prevent static cling and give them a fresh scent. This same Chemical adheres to the lint screen causing the openings to become closed off, reducing and eventually preventing air flow. This in turn lengthens drying time and can cause your dryer to overheat leading to a break down of equipment and creates a potential fire hazard.
A simple solution: clean your lint screen with warm water, dish soap and a soft bristle brush.
